There’s something incredibly special about photographing a senior in a place that already holds so much meaning—and Grayson’s session was the perfect example of that.
We spent the entire session right on his family’s property, and honestly, it couldn’t have been a better setting. From barns and buildings to trailers, trees, and little hidden pockets of character sprinkled throughout the land, every corner told part of Grayson’s story. Instead of rushing from one location to the next, we were able to slow down, walk around, explore, and let the session unfold naturally.
One of my favorite parts of this session was simply chatting with Grayson as we wandered the property. Getting to know him better: his sense of humor, his laid-back personality, and his genuine kindness—made the experience even more meaningful. He is such an amazing kid: thoughtful, funny, and easy to be around.
You can just tell he has a bright future ahead of him, and I have no doubt he’s going to go far in life.
What made this session even more personal was incorporating what Grayson truly loves: welding. I always encourage seniors to bring pieces of themselves into their session, and watching Grayson light up when we included his welding helmet was so rewarding. This wasn't just a prop, it was a reflection of his passion, his skills, and the path he’s excited to pursue. Capturing him showcasing something he genuinely enjoys made the images feel authentic and powerful, the kind of photos that will always remind him of who he was in this season of life.
And of course, we couldn’t forget his best friend. Once we let his dog out, the session instantly took on a whole new level of fun. This pup was an absolute natural in front of the camera—photogenic, playful, and clearly very loved. The bond between Grayson and his dog was so evident, and those images are some of my favorites from the entire session.
This shoot was more than just senior photos—it was a glimpse into Grayson’s life, his passions, and the place he calls home. Sessions like this are a reminder of why I love what I do. Shooting at home adds such a special layer of meaning, comfort, and authenticity that you simply can’t replicate anywhere else.
Grayson’s session was relaxed, personal, and full of heart—and it’s one I won’t forget anytime soon.
