Sammy’s Senior Session | Escanaba, Michigan


This session was special for a few reasons. The first reason—this family. I met Sammy, her sister, and their mom a couple of years ago when I photographed her sister’s senior session, and I instantly fell in love with them. They are truly the sweetest people, and it was such a joy to see them again!


The second reason—this session took place in my hometown, and I loved getting to show it off to them.


Sammy loves the beach and wanted a beach-inspired session, but here in Wisconsin, it can be tricky to find a great spot. When I suggested heading up to Upper Michigan for her photos, they were completely on board, and I’m so glad they were!


We started in a beautiful grassy field that perfectly matched her outfit. We even found some daisies to add the perfect touch. As a bonus, a little deer family watched us the whole time—it was such a sweet moment.


Next, we went to my husband’s cousin’s amazing lakefront home. The property has incredible rock formations that I knew would make this session truly stand out. It was a little tricky climbing out on the rocks and getting Sammy up on the big one, but she did it! The pink tulle skirt from my Client Closet was absolutely perfect for this look.


We ended her session at Ludington Park in Escanaba, where we used two of my favorite beaches and, of course, stopped by the local lighthouse.


The night couldn’t have been more perfect. Even though we started with a few sprinkles, the weather cleared up beautifully, and we had the most gorgeous light to end an incredible evening.
